So sorry you are sick! Wishing you a speedy recovery. I am reading a bunch of non-fiction for work. Picking between: "Behave," Saplosky/ "The Art of Giving and Receiving," Betty Martin/ or "The Righteous Mind," Jonathan Haidt. But I also have a hardcopy of "Inciting Joy" Ross Gay just in case.

When I’m sick I tend to reread (or listen to) my favorite Jane Austen novels. Hope you find something to give you comfort while you’re not feeling well. Re your question - right now I’m reading a great book recommended by my local library - Mr Rochester by Sarah Shoemaker from 2017. The author imagines a fascinating back story for the character of Rochester from Jane Eyre. Beautifully written. I’m about halfway though; right now the twenty-something, very naive Edward Rochester has been sent to Jamaica to oversee his father’s plantation there …
