Re your question - right now I’m reading a great book recommended by my local library - Mr Rochester by Sarah Shoemaker from 2017. The author imagines a fascinating back story for the character of Rochester from Jane Eyre. Beautifully written. I’m about halfway though; right now the twenty-something, very naive Edward Rochester has been sent to Jamaica to oversee his father’s plantation there …
