We're postponing "Dune"
Let's enjoy late summer and read "Dune" together this winter
Come to think of it, “late August” and “Zoom class” don't really go together, do they?
We didn’t get enough sign-ups for Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic, a class that was going to start tomorrow, so we’re going to reschedule the Dune book club to start the first week of January, when more of us will be in the mood for some page-turning escapism.
The club will now meet on Monday nights at 6 pm, January 6 - February 24, 2025.
I’m really excited to read Dune with Chris Lydgate, and the whole FrizzLit gang. I’ve still never read the dang book! But I love hearing Chris talk about how it was inspired by the sand dunes of the Oregon coast.
The only thing FrizzLit will be up to for the rest of summer is the Silent Reading Party every Wednesday (except for September 11 and 18, when I will be away and we have the nights off).
We’ll start up our fall season with the Creative Sparks writing class I’m teaching, beginning the last Monday in September.
And then there’s the Flannery O’Connor book club in early October. Because of the Dune rescheduling, Flannery can start one week earlier, so the revised start date for that class is October 5.
Just saw the email- this totally makes sense! Something to look forward to in the depths of the Big Dark in the PNW. And now I have time to read all the books I had to drop when I was behind on reading Middlemarch.....and Dickens and Woolf and....
Bummer that it’s postponed, but still excited for the class!
