The Zoom broadcast of tonight’s live music — also known as the virtual party — is free for paid subscribers to this Substack. Thank you for supporting the Silent Reading Party with your subscription.

Tune out distractions tonight and get some reading done with a community of people who are doing the same thing. Paul Matthew Moore will perform live on piano, playing original, very mellow arrangements of everything from Duke Ellington to Erik Satie to Radiohead.

If you’re a paid subscriber here, tonight’s live music is free. Just scroll down and click on the link anytime between 7:30 and 9:30 pm Pacific. Literary birthdays of the week will be announced at 7:40 pm.

If you are a free subscriber here, you’ll need a virtual ticket to join us.

If you’re one of the lucky few with a reservation at Hotel Sorrento, you’ll be in the room where it happens, the room with the piano, the room where the live set is broadcast from.

Don’t listen on crappy laptop speakers

When listening from home, plug your computer into nice speakers if you can. Or plug some headphones into your computer. The music will sound better and you will feel more connected to the rest of us reading at the Sorrento.

How to show our piano player extra love

If you would like to send Paul a little extra love for playing piano for us for two hours straight, you can find him on Venmo or Paypal.

  • His Venmo is paulmatthew-moore (and if you need them, the last four digits of his number are 9033)

  • His Paypal is paulmatthewmoore
