Paul Matthew Moore at the piano in the Fireside Room at the Sorrento.

Tune out distractions and get some reading done tonight with a community of people doing the same thing. Our ambiance will be the exquisitely relaxing sounds of Paul Matthew Moore on piano.

FrizzLit created the first Silent Reading Party some 15 years ago, for the Sorrento’s 100th anniversary. It has since been replicated in cities around the world.

If you are a paid subscriber here on Substack, click on the link at the bottom of this post to enjoy the live music from 6 pm to 8 pm Pacific — no ticket necessary, and no need to turn on your Zoom camera if you don’t want to.

If you are a free subscriber here, you’ll need a virtual ticket to join us for tonight’s broadcast.

If you’re one of the lucky few with a reservation at tonight’s sold out in-person party, then you’ll be in the room where it happens, the room with the piano, the room where the live set is broadcast from: Sorrento’s Fireside Room.

Don’t listen on crappy laptop speakers

When listening from home, plug your computer into nice speakers if you can. Or plug some headphones into your computer. The music will sound better and you will feel more connected to the rest of us reading at the Sorrento.

How to show our piano player extra love

If you would like to show Paul a little extra love for playing piano for us for two hours straight, you can find him on Venmo or Paypal. His Venmo is paulmatthew-moore (and if you need them, the last four digits of his number are 9033). His Paypal can be found by searching for paulislove@yahoo.com.
