The Zoom broadcast of the live music — AKA the virtual party — is free if you are a paid subscriber. Thank you for supporting the reading party with your subscription.

Tune out distractions and get some Saturday-afternoon reading done with a community of people who are doing the same thing. Paul Matthew Moore will be live on piano, with music he’s arranged and designed to be ideal reading ambiance.

If you’re a paid subscriber here, the live music is free.

Just scroll to the bottom of this post and click on the link anytime between 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm Pacific. Literary birthdays of the week will be announced during a brief pause in the music at 12:40 pm.

If you are a free subscriber here, you’ll need a virtual ticket to join us.

If you’re one of the lucky few with a reservation at the sold out in-person party at the Sorrento, you’ll be in the room where it happens, the room with the piano, the room where the live set is broadcast from.

Don’t listen on crappy laptop speakers

When listening from home, plug your computer into nice speakers if you can. Or plug some headphones into your computer. The music will sound better and you will feel more connected to the rest of us reading at the Sorrento.

How to tip the musician

If you would like to send Paul a little extra love for playing piano for us for two hours straight, you can find him on Venmo or Paypal.

  • His Venmo is paulmatthew-moore (and if you need them, the last four digits of his number are 9033)

  • His Paypal is paulmatthewmoore

The virtual reading party was created in 2020, and we’ve kept it going, even after we were able to gather in person again.
