I’m reading The Iliad because I’m taking a class on it right now from Daniel Mendelsohn and NYRB. Honestly, I don’t love The Iliad. Spears ripping apart shoulders, helmets ripping off heads… but I’m finally tackling it. Maybe the bloodshed will warm me up as it snows outside.
I highly recommend the book I was reading last week: The Loves of My Life by Edmund White. Deeply brilliant, sexually shocking, light, funny, and true. Arguably the best book so far of the 21st century.

I’m listening to Billie Jean King’s 2023 memoir All In - very good so far. She helped change tennis, sports, and women’s rights so much!
