TV cameras coming to May 8 reading party
"Good Morning America" is working on a segment about the Silent Reading Party to air on ABC
If you have a ticket for the May 8 Silent Reading Party at the Sorrento, heads up!
Good Morning America is going to be at that party, filming a segment slated to air in late May.
ABC producers are sending former Good Morning America anchor Charles Gibson and his daughter Kate, who are going to participate in the party alongside everyone else. The two of them are also hosts of the Book Case podcast.
The last time we had news cameras at the party, it was for a segment that aired locally on Evening Magazine. Click here and scroll down to watch that.
Charles Gibson and his daughter Kate are often featured on Good Morning America segments about books, reading, and writing — see here, here, and here.
I’m really excited they’re coming to our May 8 party.
As of this writing, only one barstool is still available. But more seats may become available. Existing ticket-holders have been notified that cameras are coming, and they have till next Wednesday to get a refund or exchange their tickets for another date if they don’t want to be on television.
If you want to be able to say you were at the reading party before it was on Good Morning America, consider joining us for brunch tomorrow or next weekend or the weekend after. It can be hard to find brunch reservations for 1 or 2 people in the city, especially with live music… but it’s possible at the reading party.
If you’re more of a nighttime reading partier, the next Wednesday night parties with multiple seats still available are here, here, and here.
A fuller list of upcoming parties on sale for the general public can be found at SilentReadingParty.com.
We’ll be releasing tickets for new parties in the latter half of June here on Substack in the next few days. Paid subscribers here on substack get first dibs on seats. A week after that, free subscribers will get access to those ticket links. Only after that do they go on sale to the general public.
Thank you for supporting the Silent Reading Party with your subscription.
