Last chance to join "Jane Eyre"
New book club starts Monday night. Don't read anything before our first meeting

Background on Charlotte Brontë’s early life, and the challenges she and her sisters overcame to publish their work.
Those are two things we’ll be discussing on the first night of the Jane Eyre Book Club. It’s an 8-week class on Zoom that starts this coming Monday night.
To join the club, just buy a ticket. All meetings are recorded, and all recordings get sent out to all ticket-holders automatically.
You also need a copy of the book. Choose either of these editions and you’ll have the same page numbers as everyone else during our discussions.
Everyone who’s signed up will get discussion questions for Monday emailed to them tomorrow. (If you want to get those discussion questions, make sure you’re signed up!)
The questions will be fun, “getting to know you”-type questions related to the themes in the book, the life of the author, and the upcoming holiday season.

We’re also going to share the reading schedule for the club on Monday night (which pages to read before which meetings for the next eight weeks).
If you already have your copy and you feel like getting a head start, we strongly advise you NOT to read the introduction that appears in any contemporary edition of the book. (It will spoil the book.) But DO read the preface by Currer Bell (pseudonym for Charlotte Brontë).
At our first meeting on Monday night, we’ll also learn how the Brontë sisters pronounced Brontë — it’s not the way you’d expect! — and we’ll also talk about the vast influence Jane Eyre.
Audrey and I have been planning this club for months, and we can’t wait to dive into this gothic Victorian classic with you, whether you’re reading it for the first time or the umpteenth time.
If you’ve already joined the club
Keep an eye out for those discussion questions in your email tomorrow. That email will also include the Zoom link for Monday at 6 pm Pacific.
If you haven’t joined the club
You need to buy a ticket here and you need a copy of the book. If you have a different edition than either of the ones we recommend, that works too!
Next up
FrizzLit’s Roman Mythology Book Club, on Saturdays at 10 am Pacific, starts Dec 7.
Can I get the email with the link and questions?
Hey, fearless leader! I think I bought a ticket and missed the first day school. My car ran out of gas! I ran over my roommate’s cat! I was wandering on the moors and forgot about book club! So, can I join you Monday? Please?
