We start on Monday night!
This will be one of the longest FrizzLit book club we’ve ever done. It lasts five months long, because we’re reading an 800-page book in the same installments as it was first published in the 1860s.
Which will be about 40 pages a week.
Plus I’ll tell you stories about Charles Dickens’s life along the way — particularly his later years, which we didn’t talk about much when we did book clubs on A Christmas Carol, David Copperfield, and Great Expectations.
I’ve already sent out five “getting to know you” type discussion questions to everyone who’s signed up. Questions that will get us in the mood for the things we’re going to talk about during our first class.
The first three questions:
Have you ever been in an accident in a car, train, boat, or plane? If so, what happened?
What’s the oddest job you’ve had? Try to think of the funniest, weirdest, or worst thing you’ve ever done to make money.
Do you have a favorite river? What’s your favorite river in the whole world?
