Huge thanks to everyone who responded to the initial announcement by reaching out to say they will be supporting us.
And big thanks to everyone who decides to donate tomorrow.
There is a whole team of people behind FrizzLit Editions. Over the next week or so, I will be introducing them to you here on substack, beginning with my first collaborator on this project, someone who’s been part of it longer than anyone else.
Meet the team
Corianton Hale is an award-winning designer and the art director of FrizzLit Editions.
Cori and I met at Kinko’s on Broadway more than two decades ago. We started chatting because Morrissey was playing through the store’s speakers, and I was signing along, and Cori, who was working behind the counter, was a fan too.
When he wasn’t at Kinko’s, Cori played in bands and designed fonts for fun. He invited me over to his apartment once, where he had huge sheets of paper where he’d drawn out every letter and number in the new typefaces he was creating from scratch.
At the time, I was thinking of starting a literary magazine, and we bonded over our love of the look of the literary magazine McSweeney’s.
A year or two later, Cori landed a job in the design department at The Stranger, and a year or two after that, I followed him to The Stranger, where I worked in the editorial department.
He’s one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met, with a creativity that knows no bounds — and extends beyond graphic work into cooking and ceramics. If you live in Seattle, you’ve seen his work everywhere, from iconic Stranger covers to concert posters for bands to branding for many local companies, including FrizzLit. He designed our logo and website.
He’s the best designer and art director currently living — yes, I said it, it’s true! — and I’m over the moon that he will be creating the look and feel of FrizzLit Editions.

Read more about him here, on the website for his branding firm Headquarters.
